Two-thirds of the world's grasslands are turning to desert. However, there is hope. We need to be re-educated about some of our assumptions. Do livestock cause desertification? No! Desertification is caused by the removal of grazing animals!
The only answer is to re-introduce livestock in bunches, moving as a proxy to former herds and predators. As they move, the soil becomes litered with dung, urine and mulch, thereby enabling the soil to absorb and hold the rain and snow, store carbon, and to break down methane!
We can actually work with nature to reverse all of this desertification!
