Boomsday

Now reading Boomsday, Christopher Buckley's hilarious take on how to fix the Social Security mess. The boomers reach the magic age of retirement, and who is left with the bill?

Once again, the chief character of the story is a woman. Ditto Florence of Arabia and Supreme Courtship. No doubt this reflects the influence of the complex and powerful woman who was Christopher's mother. Not only was he the beneficiary of such a fascinating woman, but now, we are, too.

Count me in...too funny. Sometimes laughing at a serious problem helps you to solve it, now why is that so?

Terri,
That is a wise observation that I will give thought to. I turned on the radio this morning and heard that one of the top stories is about a preacher in Florida who wants to burn the Koran, and General Petraeus (doesn't he have anything better to do?) has pleaded with the preacher not to burn the Koran. It all sounds like something straight out of a Buckley novel.
