Teen Pregnancies

Because of the media attention being given to Sarah Palin's daughter, the Rocky Mountain News reports these interesting statistics about teen pregnancy. In Colorado, on average, every 1.5 hours a teenage mother gives birth. 82 percent of teen pregnancies in the U.S. are unplanned. 29 percent end in abortion. 14 percent end in miscarriages. Only 57 percent end in live births.

I'm planning on writing something about this.

Some on the left are throwing their hands up, saying "society's changed, why should someone have to wait until marriage to have intercourse."

I find this debate shocking, frankly. Traditional values really do seem threatened.

I have to admit although I like Sarah and sincerely hope she wins and perhaps becomes the first female president, my family has experienced two teenage pregnancies where the 2 involved were married. One worked out ok after a rocky first 10 years, the other sadly warped both parents and I'm sure in time the young child will feel its effects. I'm not not much on teenage marriage; I'm more into open adoptions.
