"A Strange Noise"

One of the foster chidren who came to live with us was a baby who lived his first three days in a box in a closet. His mother had put him in a box in her uncle's closet shortly after his birth. She had pretended not to be pregnant. The uncle's girlfriend heard "a strange noise" in the closet, and went to take a closer look. The baby had been kept alive and nourished by the umbilical cord. He spent a night in the hospital, then came to us.

We put the little guy in a crib in our master bedroom. His cries at night were so pitiful. He stayed with us a couple of months, until the parents of his father were approved to become his foster parents.

The mother was criminally charged, but beat the rap by pretending to be crazy, and going to a mental hospital. She has probably had a couple more babies since then.

You have to have a license to marry. You have to have a license to hunt. You have to have a license to drive.

But to be a parent? Just know about sex.

Now don't get me wrong - I don't want the government in my bedroom. I guess this is the price we pay for that particular freedom - and scratch that "we" crap, as it is y'all who pay that price for the rest of us.

How utterly sad. I'm glad the parents of the father adopted that poor baby. Hopefully they will raise him with as much love as my husband and I raised our grandchild. We adopted her at the age of six. She's now in college and she's amazing! Six years of abuse at the hands of a druggy whore (not our daughter, thank God) who had left my son and took the child, until we found her abandoned and at the mercy of the state of Florida, hired lawyers and finally won custody of her. We adopted her and we are her Mom and Dad, and that's what she calls us.

Hopefully that little baby boy's soul will not be hurt by such neglect, and thankfully he won't remember any of it!

God bless! And by the way, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. You deserve it!

jeffro,
I don't want the government in any of my rooms! But, yeah, protecting children like this little boy is a legitimate function of our government.

Gayle,
God bless you and your husband for the lives you are living.
