Trying to speak truth to power

Rush Limbaugh interviews James O'Keefe, hero of hidden camera work regarding the left's voter fraud, exposing ACORN and Planned Parenthood, and so much more. By sticking his neck out, O'Keefe has not only had to fight the left, but also so-called allies among Republicans. That doesn't surprise Rush, who notes that Republicans often don't want to appear to be argumentative, much less confrontational.

Rush praises O'Keefe's "works of art," and asks him if he ever has felt personally threatened. O'Keefe answers that the book he has just written, Breakthrough, starts out with O'Keefe in federal jail, confined to his home state of New Jersey for three and one-half years. O'Keefe says his story is about surviving the attempts made to destroy his First Amendment rights.

What I found very interesting is that these two men, whom I admire greatly, both have used Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals in their wonderful careers. One of those rules is making adversaries live up to their own book of rules, which brings out their absurdities. Can we give Saul Alinsky a break now folks? O'Keefe's first use of Alinsky's rules was to protest against Lucky Charms at Rutgers, saying that the breakfast cereal was racist against Irish people like himself, because of its use of a short little leprechaun. "We're not all short!" Rutgers removed Lucky Charms because it was against the campus speech code! A perfect demonstration of the absurdity of their own arguments!

Journalists have their hands tied by "forces of compliance and conformity." O'Keefe and Limbaugh are disrupters of the status quo. O'Keefe's Project Veritas is training a small army of guerrilla investigators. He says it is only the beginning of his work.

Toward the end, O'Keefe again mentions Alinsky: "Doing what you can with what you have!" His book is trying to inspire others to use the technology that is in their pocket: the iPhone! The voice of caution, Rush Limbaugh, warns O'Keefe that the left will try to co-opt him. He also urges him to keep his focus and never lose his energy. Never lose faith that victory is achievable! Keep it up. Keep loving what you do!
