A football fundraiser

Guess who is the mastermind behind this football fundraiser? My son-in-law!

Aiming to capitalize on two Texas staples — guns and high school football — the Georgetown High School football boosters are holding a fundraising raffle for 52 firearms.

“Texas is full of hunters, and you try to take advantage of that marketing opportunity,” booster president Andy Haas said. “The fall’s a perfect time, right before dove season.”

It’s a fundraiser with the potential to bring in about $25,000 for the football team. It’s also raising some eyebrows, coming less than a year after a mass shooting in a Connecticut elementary school that started a national debate about gun ownership and gun control.
