A warning

"Americans recognize that he has the mental acuity and toughness to take on whatever the world throws at him."

Yesterday a reporter thought he had President Trump cornered. In American Thinker, Andrea Widburg explains what happened and then concludes,
A president with that kind of quick wit — "I would call it peaceful protests" — is a strong president. Americans recognize that he has the mental acuity and toughness to take on whatever the world throws at him.

Trump provides a marked contrast to Joe Biden, whose mental acuity visibly deteriorates on a day-by-day basis. One candidate, funnily and quickly, puts his opponents in their place; the other candidate, when not drowning in word soup, makes racist statements and insults the voters. I know which one I'd rather have seated across the table from Presidents Xi and Putin.

The collapse of the traditional American family

In the Daily Signal, Star Parker reports in part,
n 1962, 71% of women ages 15-44 were married. By 2019, this was down to 42%.

In 1962, 5% of women ages 30-34 had never been married. By 2019, this was up to 35%.

And the percentage of births to unmarried women has risen from 5% in 1960 to 40% in 2018.

...There is the oft-quoted observation of Brookings Institution scholar Ron Haskins that American adults who follow three rules—finish high school; get a full-time job; and wait until at least age 21 to get married and have children—have a 2% chance of being poor and a 75% chance of being a middle-class wage earner.

...The report examines several possible factors, a major one being the dramatic growth in the welfare state supporting female heads of household.

Gallup has been asking since 1952, “How important would you say religion is in your own life—very important, fairly important or not very important.”

In 1952, 75% said “very important.” In 1970, this was down to about 60%, and by 1978, this was down to 52%.”

It was in this environment of a dramatic drop in Americans’ sense of the personal importance of religion that, in 1973, the Roe v. Wade decision legalized abortion.

A wave of court decisions banned religion from the public square. In 1962, prayer in public school was banished.

In 2002 Gallup polling, 45% said to have a baby outside of marriage was morally acceptable. By 2015, this was up to 61%, and by 2019, it was up to 64%.

"He's chosen a well-qualified candidate who will run the country -- err, I mean, help him run the country -- with excellence."

From the satirical Babylon Bee: WASHINGTON, D.C.—According to sources in the Biden campaign, the presidential candidate is on pins and needles waiting to see who it is he picked to run for vice president on his ticket.

Campaign aides say it's been Biden's most anticipated event since he found out he was running for president a few weeks ago.

A reporter asked Biden if he could hint about his VP pick during a brief interlude from his stay in the basement, where he was allowed to come upstairs to get some snacks.

"Oh boy -- I hope it's a real classy broad," he said as he drank straight from the milk jug. "I bet I picked somebody good and smart. A chick with class and style. You know, in my day, dames were dames and guys were guys. None of this 'guys becoming dolls' and 'dolls becoming guys' stuff. We would go down to the hop and do the mashed potato. You know, there's lots of good nnnn-- nutrients and stuff in potatoes. Potato is a funny word."

"Po - ta - to."

"OK, Joe, let's go," said an aide, shoving him down into the basement. "What Joe was trying to say is that he's chosen a well-qualified candidate who will run the country -- err, I mean, help him run the country -- with excellence."

From the satirical Babylon Bee: WILMINGTON, DE—According to sources within the Joe Biden campaign, staffers have been instructed to pick "any black person" for vice president, "since they all think the same anyway."

He made the comment while in a strategy meeting with aides in his basement.

"Just nab any old black person -- they're all pretty much interchangeable," Biden reportedly told his aides. "That Stacey chick, the Kamala cop lady, heck, get Denzel Washington for all I care. Any of them are fine. And poor VP candidates are almost as bright as white ones."

"I had a black friend once, you know. Barry. Really great guy. Very clean and articulate."

Aides were then able to distract him by giving him a paddleball to play with while they went upstairs to try to do some damage control from whatever the latest racist or sexist thing he said was.

At publishing time, aides said they felt sorry for Biden, since he was under the mistaken impression that he gets to pick the VP candidate himself.

Privilege

What were Truman's choices 75 years ago this week?

In PJ Media, Victor Davis Hanson writes about the bombs dropped on Japan 75 years ago.
To Americans and most of the world 75 years ago, each day in early August 1945 that the Japanese war machine continued its work meant that thousands of Asian civilians and Allied soldiers would die.

In the terrible arithmetic of World War II, the idea that such a nightmare might end in a day or two was seen as saving millions of lives rather than gratuitously incinerating tens of thousands.

It was in that bleak context that Harry Truman dropped the two bombs — opting for a terrible choice among even worse alternatives.

Biden: Biden concluded, “Anyway, I am uh, I am very willing to let the American public judge my physical and mental fil- my physical as well as my mental fil- fitness.”

In the Daily Wire, Paul Bois reports,
After a disastrous interview in which Joe Biden insisted on his mental competency while slurring his words and tripping over himself, podcast host Joe Rogan simply declared the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate to be “mentally compromised.”

“I believe there is also [a] large group of people that are very uncomfortable with a man who seems to be mentally compromised winning the election and doing so by hiding,” Rogan said on his podcast, as reported by Fox News.

“He was just at another thing the other day, and he forgot where he was,” added Rogan.

On Wednesday, a clip from an interview between Joe Biden and CBS News reporter Errol Barnett went viral; the former vice president’s bizarre, incoherent response to questions about his cognitive well-being sparked further controversy about his mental competency.

“Have you taken a cognitive test?” CBS News correspondent Errol Barnett asked.

“No, I haven’t taken a test,” Biden shot back. “Why the hell would I take a test? Come on man, that’s like saying, you, before you got in this program, if you take a test where you’re taking cocaine or not, what do you think, huh? Are you a junkie?”

“What do you say to President Trump, who brags about his test and makes your mental state an issue for voters?” the host pressed as Biden laughed.

“Well, if he can’t figure out the difference between an elephant and a lion, I don’t know what the hell he’s talking about,” Biden responded. “Did you watch that, look, come on man, I, I, I know you’re trying to goad me, but, I mean, I’m so forward-looking to have an opportunity to sit with the president or stand with the president [in the] debates. There gonna be plenty of time, and by the way, as I joke with ‘em, you know, I, I shouldn’t say it. I’m going to say something, I probably shouldn’t say.”

Biden concluded, “Anyway, I am uh, I am very willing to let the American public judge my physical and mental fil- my physical as well as my mental fil- fitness.”

On Tuesday, Joe Biden’s wife, Jill, asserted that criticisms of her husband’s cognitive decline are off-base.

“You know, Joe is anything but that characterization. You know, we’ve been campaigning; we’ve been listening to the experts, the scientists, and the doctors, and they have told us stay home and be safe, and I think Donald Trump is really about Joe’s age right? I think there’s like two or three years difference,” Jill told Dana Perino of Fox News.

President Trump has capitalized on Joe Biden’s numerous gaffes and has simply said that he is not mentally fit to be president.

“I say he’s not competent to be president,” Trump told Fox News anchor Chris Wallace recently. “To be president you have to be sharp and tough and so many other things. He doesn’t even come out of his basement.”

Biden Clarifies: 'I Like All Races, Even The Bad Ones'

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Joe Biden has apologized for his recent seemingly racist comment, where he said that poor kids are sometimes as smart as white kids.

"Everyone who knows me knows I'm not a racist," said Biden. "I even have a black friend, Barry. Smart, articulate guy."

Aides were then seen signaling him to stop talking, but Biden pushed on.

"Rest assured," Biden said. "I like all races, even the bad ones."

Aides threw up their hands in exasperation.

"What? What'd I say?"

Media immediately jumped all over Biden's comments, responding to his horrifying gaffe by calling on President Trump to resign.

Harris or Rice

In PJ Media, Matt Margolis tells us that he has learned from sources close to Biden that Biden's v.p. choice has come to either Susan Rice or Kamala Harris.
Harris delivered scathing attacks on Biden during the primary debates, accusing him of being racist for his past support for busing, and his support of Democrat segregationists. Rice repeatedly lied to the American people after the 2012 terrorist attacks on the American consulate in Benghazi, which she claimed, on television, was the result of a spontaneous protest that got out of hand. Rice’s repeated claim was part of a deliberate misinformation campaign during the weeks before the 2012 presidential election. Rice has also been implicated in the unmasking of Trump campaign officials scandal, and in 2016 she also personally gave the “stand-down” order to Obama’s cybersecurity czar, which led to Russian election interference.

...The Trump campaign reportedly is hoping that Biden picks Susan Rice.

“She is absolutely our No. 1 draft pick,” a Trump campaign official told Politico.

Losing face

John Waters writes in FrontPage Magazine,
...Increasingly, beholding one another in the street — masked, visored, alert for the slightest incursion into our personal six foot of space, jumping out of our skins at the slightest cough, sniffle or sneeze — it is becoming clear that we no longer look upon one another and perceive the iconic shape of the human being in history — limbs, trunk, head, face, gaze, smile — but see instead a moving blob of festering matter, biofluids, glands, adipoctytes, viruses, microbiota, fungi, yeasts, acids, maggots, phage, proteins, stool and mucus — oozing, sweating, belching, snorting, wind-breaking, weeping, puking, seeping, urinating, excreting organisms riddled with mostly imperceptible orifices, from which are expelled unpleasant and deadly liquids, substances, gases, odours and pathogens. To paraphrase the Killers' song, are we human or are we (bio)hazard?

How strange that, while emotional incontinence is increasingly valued and praised, physical human effusions are ever more anathematised. Where once human beings aspired to being gods, we now appear to have entered the final phase of our self-degradation: perceiving ourselves predominantly as a pestilence on the earth.

...I have dignity as a human person because I am a human person. Christianity elided this circularity by declaring man to be made in the image of his creator, entitling each individual human to be regarded as possessing inviolable rights and entitlements, in particular imposing on his society the responsibility to respect and protect his moral and biological needs. But, more and more — and acceleratingly in the time of the virus — we see ourselves not as unity of body and soul, but as hunks of potentially infected meat, each of us striving every moment to protect ourselves from the others. Where this will take us we can for the moment only guess. Already it has taken us to places we could scarcely have dreamed about six months ago. We queue six foot apart, speak to one another through strips of cloth and dance like Elvis to avoid one another as we pass in the street. Are we moving towards a world in which Hazmat suits will be mandatory at all times, where organ lofts will be dismantled for fear of deadly aerosols dropping from on high, where bubble kits will be banned as lethal weapons, where moshing will be looked back upon as we now look back on slavery? One thing is for sure: the consequences of all this for romance — which is to say for human regeneration — can scarcely be exaggerated.

Biden not going to his nominating convention in Wisconsin; gets racist with CBS reporter

So, what is the news so far today about Joe Biden? First, AP says Joe will not be traveling to Wisconsin to accept the Democratic nomination. Second, when asked by a CBS reporter in June whether he would take a cognitive function test, Joe said yes he does, "constantly." When asked this week by the same reporter, Joe became indignant and asked why he should take one, telling the black reporter it was like the black reporter having to take a drug test because he is black.

Not Democrat? Not Left? You must be a hate group!

In his Morning Report today, JJ Sefton has a few words to say about the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).
First of all, the SPLC is a complete fraud; the fact is the KKK, Aryan Nations and other so-called "right wing" hate groups are for all intents and purposes fringe, with statistically insignificant numbers of confirmed members. And despite zero things in common with and denounced by anyone and everyone on our side, the SPLC inflates their numbers and threat and continues to smear us as being joined at the hip with them. Plus, the "hate groups" it does identify include anyone and anything that is non-Democrat and non-Leftist. Actual Muslim terrorists and terror organizations as well as Antifa, BLM, New Black Panthers, enviro-terrorists and others are strangely non-existent in their files and warnings. As for the ADL, it is a prime example of a once-respected organization that long ago had been killed and gutted by Leftists who are now traipsing around in its rotting skin-suit.

Offering support to states

In PJ Media, Matt Margolis has a suggestion for President Trump regarding how to talk about the COVID-19.
...

Jonathan Swan — like most of the mainstream media — pretends that the United States isn’t 50 self-governing states. This is how President Trump should be answering questions about the “United States’ response” to COVID-19. He needs to point out that the federal government didn’t micromanage the responses in all 50 states and D.C., that the federal government effectively supported the states by providing PPE, ventilators, etc., and that only a few select states botched their responses to the virus. Dismissing deaths per capita as an irrelevant metric is not the way to do it.

US President Donald Trump told press today that the explosions that rocked Beirut, Lebanon, were not an accident. He has been informed that it may have been "a bomb of some kind."

He was asked if he was confident that this was an attack and not an accident.

"It would seem like it, based on the explosion, I've met with some of our great generals, and they just seemed to feel that it was. This was not some kind of a manufacturing explosion type of event... this was a, seems to be according to them, and they would know better than I would, but they seem to think it was an attack. It was a bomb of some kind, yes."

"That's why you're peaceful," a female citizen replied.

More tweets and quotes

Matt Walsh tweeted,
George Floyd had a significant dose of fentanyl in his system, a drug 50 times more powerful than morphine and which is known to cause respiratory distress. He combined it with meth and marijuana. It just strains credulity to claim that this played no role in his death whatsoever

Ashley StClaire tweeted,
What the George Floyd officer body cam footage reveals:

Floyd says he’s having issues breathing while sitting in the cop car w/ nobody touching him

Cops offered to roll down windows & turn AC on for him

He repeatedly yells “I wanna lay on the ground” instead of sitting in car

Tucker Carlson said,
"Oh, we just have to do it. Really? Fauci is 79 but maybe if he had like 22-year-old kids who were trying to make their way in this world in an economy that is headed down the tubes, thanks largely to his recommendations, he would feel differently. It’s not merely an inconvenience when your economy collapses. It’s the end of the American Dream. That’s not a small thing. Maybe it’s worth it. Maybe it’s not but if it is, then you probably shouldn’t take a pass on the question 'Are protests and riots okay?' unless you're a total fraud, a complete fraud.'"

Ben Shapiro tweeted,
Endless lockdown is not an option. Endless unemployment payments are not an option. Leaving children school-less for a year is not an option. And pretending that these things represent responsible policy options is a lie.

Thomas Sowell tweeted,
Education is an issue with little, if any, down side for the Republicans, because the teachers' unions are the single biggest obstacle to black youngsters getting a decent education — and among the biggest donors to the Democrats.

Connor Friedersdorf tweeted,
Never forget that the socialist left doesn't see people pursuing happiness via free enterprise or achieving economic independence or contributing to the decentralization of power as goods in themselves.

John Cardillo tweeted,
After the conversation I just had, again anecdotal, every doctor I personally know believes HCQ/zinc/azithromycin taken prophylactically or during early signs of COVID symptoms works wonders. One called it a “miracle.”

Biden to pick a classy broad

From the satirical Babylon Bee:
WASHINGTON, D.C.—According to sources in the Biden campaign, the presidential candidate is on pins and needles waiting to see who it is he picked to run for vice president on his ticket.

Obama's team takes down a brilliant patriot

William Corbett writes in part in the Federalist,
...While malfeasance emerged from multiple institutions, no organization discredited itself more acutely than the Federal Bureau of Investigation I have been privileged to serve for 22 years. With conflagrations ravaging the 2016 electoral landscape, the FBI should have served as a rule-of-law firebreak. But that role was enthusiastically abandoned by FBI headquarters arsonists whose names we have come to learn and loathe.

The entire fiasco has been a gutshot to the thousands of former agents whose careers faithfully adhered to the Constitution. How did law enforcement’s premier investigative agency, steeped with expertise in quashing public corruption, become so thoroughly devoted to abetting it?

The full answer awaits the completion of U.S. Attorney John Durham’s formal investigation, and possibly the deliberations of a federal trial jury. But FBI veterans also seek to know, how on earth was this allowed to happen?

Former FBI Director Jim Comey’s conspicuous dissembling and the self-serving, cable-TV twaddle of Andy McCabe offer no insights, only evasions. Each new document trove reveals their pretentious “It’s possible, but I don’t know” suppositions about the Christopher Steele dossier to be nothing more than high-octane sham.

After mutilating the FBI’s legacy of trust, these deceivers seek to absolve themselves with allusions to subordinates’ bad judgment and systemic incompetency. But wisdom and experience recognize this as yet another masking maneuver aimed at covering a more awful reality of bad faith and abject moral failure.

...As a private citizen, when I regard how brazenly Flynn’s persecutors deprived him of his constitutional rights and reputation, I am shocked and alarmed, and you should be too. As a former colleague, when I imagine the good will Americans have for the FBI used to camouflage a scheme for entrapping him, I am deeply ashamed.

In ordering a review to evaluate the “FBI’s role in the Flynn investigation and determine whether any current employees engaged in misconduct,” FBI Director Christopher Wray has taken an important, albeit tentative, first step. The record depicts FBI employees lying to the FISA court, spurious source-handling, doctored reports, and evading federal records laws and oversite compliance. This must be confronted with an unblinking application of all pertinent regulations and laws.

I have to wonder, against all the fanaticism Flynn contended with in far-off hellscapes, could he ever have imagined that ideological extremism would threaten his security and the well-being of his family here in our country?

"Obama was not only the most corrupt president in U.S. history, but the most divisive."

Patricia McCarthy writes in part in the American Thinker,
Obama was not only the most corrupt president in U.S. history, but the most divisive. He set race relations back at least fifty years. His speech at Lewis's funeral was true to his schismatic style. Despite his privileged life, his having been elected to the presidency twice, despite now being a multi-millionaire, this is a man who hates America with a passion that has not abated since he was in office.

He accused federal agents of using "tear gas and batons" against "peaceful protesters." As anyone with eyes and a television knows, those were and are not peaceful protesters. This was a lie. They were and are violent and destructive of anything in their wake, from small businesses to federal buildings. Obama went on to spew lies about restricting black Americans from voting. Wholesale lies, and he knows that what he said is not true.

Favoring voter ID is hardly racist. Every person in that audience had to show an ID to attend Lewis's funeral, yet to require ID to vote is somehow racist? It is Obama and his ilk who oppose voter ID because (1) they actually think blacks cannot obtain legal identification and (2) no voter ID makes it easier for them to cheat, and cheat they do. One would think he was speaking in 1960. Know this: there are no voter suppression laws. None. Obama is lying to frighten black Americans, for whom he clearly has no respect. His speech degenerated into an attack on all that John Lewis had achieved until Lewis capitulated to the far left of his party. Obama waxed rhapsodic about all the peaceful protesters; he compared them to the civil rights activists of Lewis's early years. This was another abject lie, and everyone watching knew.

Antifa and Black Lives Matter are violent, Marxist organizations who mean to undo America as founded. This is who the decidedly not "peaceful protesters" are. Obama's hijacking of the Lewis funeral was despicable; he is a disgrace as a former president. Whenever he has the opportunity to help heal an aching nation, he chooses instead to incite, to accuse, to condemn. He is not a good man.

Will the pandemic finally reach South Dakota?

The Associated Press reports that the annual motorcycle rally in Sturgis, South Dakota will be held August 7-16. 250,000 people are expected to attend.
Rallygoers have spent about $800 million in past years, according to the state Department of Tourism. Though the rally has an ignominious history of biker gangs and lawlessness, bikers of a different sort have shown up in recent years — affluent professionals who ride for recreation and come flush with cash. Though the rally still features libertine displays, it also offers charity events and tributes to the military and veterans.

When the rally is over, every year the city weighs all the trash generated to estimate how many people showed up. This year, they will also conduct mass coronavirus testing to see if all those people brought the pandemic to Sturgis.

Louisville's Cuban community stands up to Black Lives Matter anarchists

In Legal Insurrection, Fuzzy Slippers reports on
A rather alarming situation is developing in Louisville, Kentucky, in which local businesses are allegedly being issued demands from Black Lives Matter (BLM) activists and told that if they don’t meet the demands, their business might be “f*cked with.”

The demands are onerous, invasive, and ludicrous. They include everything from hiring quotas to training mandates to displaying a letter supporting reparations for black people to—perhaps most outrageous of all—paying a “recurring monthly donation of 1.5% of net sales to a local Black nonprofit or organization.”

The local Cuban community has rallied today in support of a man who owns a restaurant called La Bodeguita de Mima.
“There comes a time in life that you have to make a stand and you have to really prove your convictions and what you believe in,” Martinez wrote in his Facebook post. “… All good people need to denounce this. How can you justified (sic) injustice with more injustice?”

...Martinez says that he personally was told that he better comply or that his business would be “f*cked with” and reported that a flower pot belonging to the establishment was smashed for emphasis.

Burning Bibles and the American flag in Portland

In PJ Media, Tyler O'Neil writes,
...It appears the rioters have decided to tone down the violence somewhat, after Gov. Kate Brown (D-Ore.) agreed to send some Oregon State Police to protect the federal courthouse, leading the federal government to pull back some officers. Brown is claiming a victory over the riots — that peace has ensued with the withdrawal of federal officers. Yet on Thursday night, rioters burned a severed pig’s head with a police hat on it, and on Friday they burned Bibles.

While the rioters did not set off mortar fireworks at the federal courthouse, it appears they persisted in lighting fires with the intention of burning it down. The contrast to Martin Luther King Jr.’s sit-ins could not be more apparent.

These rioters are not “peaceful protesters” and they are not protesting the horrific police death of George Floyd. They are agitating against American society itself. They oppose law enforcement in its entirety, and they are even willing to burn the Bible in a statement about rejecting America’s heritage.

This does not just represent an attack on George Floyd’s legacy, the legacy of the civil rights movement, and the legacy of the abolitionist movement. The noxious ideology of these rioters also undermines the positive aspects of America and encourages hatred toward the very country that provides its citizens with an unprecedented degree of freedom and prosperity. It encourages violent riots in the name of racial justice, even though those riots make life concretely worse for black Americans.

NASA astronauts splash down safely in SpaceX capsule

In UPI, Glenn Singer reports on the successful splashdown of the astronauts today.
Sunday's re-entry marked the first splashdown of a U.S. space capsule carrying astronauts since the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, the American half of which was launched from Kennedy Space Center in 1975. That was the final flight of the Apollo spacecraft.

Crew Dragon traveled as fast as 17,500 mph after re-entering the atmosphere, but that slowed to 16 mph just before splashdown in an area with 1-foot waves and virtually no wind.

The astronauts traveled for more than 19 hours in the capsule, and could have stayed aboard Endeavour in the Gulf for two days had a problem occurred with their recovery. They made 1,024 orbits during the mission, all but a few on the space station.

The SpaceX mission was called a demonstration flight, which is the final step toward certification of the SpaceX capsule for regular trips to the space station.

Essential elements of self-defense

In American Rifleman, Jim Wilson writes about four essential elements of self-defense.
1. Situational Awareness
How much time do you spend training your eyes and ears to be alert for what is going on around you? It really does take training and practice.

...Once you begin to really see and hear the things that are going on around you, you will begin to see and hear those things that just don't fit and have the potential for danger. Why does that person asking you for the time have to come within touching distance to hear the answer? Why has the same car driven down your street for the third time in an hour? Why does that person approaching your cash register look so nervous?

2. Understanding The Body Language of Anger
People who are overcome with an unreasonable anger, a rage, nearly always give off body language that will clue you in to the danger. Clenching and unclenching the fists, an unwavering stare, rapid, shallow breathing, all may be signs of impending violence.

There are many other such characteristics of a person about to commit violence. Numerous books and online articles have been written about this. Have you read any? Right in line with this is developing skills to diffuse an argument or confrontation, that is headed south. One of the techniques is called Transactional Analysis. The entire topic is worth studying in-depth and will give you tools that you can use to stop a problem before it ever starts.

3. Hardening Any Potential Targets
All of your exterior doors should be solid and have good quality locks on them.

But even good locks don't work unless you take the time to actually lock them. And it is an absolutely superb idea to lock your exterior doors while you are in the house. The last thing you do before bedtime is to make sure that all of your exterior doors and windows are locked. This won't keep a crook out, but it will take time and he will have to make noise to get in.

Another excellent idea is to have good lights installed on the exterior of your house. Many bad guys like to work in the dark and may not be interested if your home is well lit. In line with that, it would be great to have a master light switch in your bedroom that will turn on all of those outside lights.

As a matter of fact, you should have another switch right beside it to turn on all of the lights inside the house, too. I have friends who turn off their cell phones when they go to bed. I guess it is because they don't it waking them up if it rings. I leave my cell phone on and have it on the nightstand right next to my flashlight and pistol. Should the home invaders cut your phone lines, you can still quickly call 911 for help.

4. Studying Reports of Actual Criminal Attacks
...The most important defensive tool? Right between your ears.

Lockdowns lead to catastrophe

Jeffrey A. Tucker writes in the American Institute for Economic Research,
...It was pure speculation that lockdowns would suppress this virus, and that speculation was based on a hubristic presumption of the awesome power and intelligence of government managers.

For five months, governments all over the world have been freaking out, ordering people around to do this and that, passing mandate after mandate, and yet there is no evidence that any of it matters to the virus.

Already in mid-April questions arose. Prof Isaac Ben-Israel, head of the Security Studies program at Tel Aviv University and the chairman of the National Council for Research and Development, looked at the data around the world and concluded that the virus comes and goes after 70 days regardless of the policies deployed. He found no relationship at all between locking down and transmission and death.

Fast forward to mid-July. Data scientists investigated the experience from the spring. They too found no relationship between the virus and policy. Putting it very bluntly: “Rapid border closures, full lockdowns, and wide-spread testing were not associated with COVID-19 mortality per million people.”

That’s awesome to consider. Billions of lives fundamentally altered. Economies wrecked. Centuries-old traditions of liberty and law thrown out. Police states everywhere. And to what end? The data indicate it was all for naught. Apparently, you cannot control a virus with state policies. The virus just doesn’t seem to care.

...At some point, we are going to have to throw in the towel. Whether a country locks down or stays open has as much predictive power over deaths per million as whether it rains today is related to the color of my socks. Or whether hurricanes are controlled by literacy rates.

In other words, the claim that lockdowns control viruses is pseudoscience or magical thinking of a deeply dangerous sort; it wrecks economies and lives.

...f there is a broad-based research study using real data that demonstrates something life-saving about destroying rights and liberties in the name of virus control, I’ve yet to see it.

Meanwhile, we are overwhelmed with evidence that it was all pointlessly destructive. Liberty means the practice of health and wealth; lockdowns lead to exactly what D.A. Henderson predicted: catastrophe.

Who is funding the war on America's police?

In Capital Research, Hayden Ludwig reports,
No one should be fooled by Black Lives Matters’ calls for “justice” when the facts—and the money trail—are plain to see: This is leftist politics at work.

...To discover who is leading—and financing—the war on America’s police, look no further than the Tides Center.

We recently broke the story that the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation—the leading group in the radical, Marxist-led movement that has inspired waves of riots and demands that cities “defund the police”—transferred ownership from its fiscal sponsor Thousand Currents to the Tides Center, effectively confirming that this “spontaneous” movement is controlled by professional left-wing activists.

This also makes the leading group of Black Lives Matter (BLM) just one more face in the $636 million “dark money” web known as the Tides Nexus, already infamous for sponsoring the creation of new activist groups in a process called “incubation.”

How many votes will Google swing to the Democrats?

The Political Heat reports,
As WND has reported, based on multiple interviews (including one earlier this week) with Harvard psychologist Dr. Robert Epstein – a lifelong Democrat whose extensive, peer-reviewed research on Google is featured in the sensational documentary “The Creepy Line” and more recently on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” – Google is indeed obsessed with defeating Trump.

Says Epstein, “Not only does Google have the power to shift votes and opinions on a massive scale, they actually USE that power.”

Indeed, Epstein told WND, during the 2016 election campaign Google heavily biased voting results in favor of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, possibly shifting as many as 3 MILLION VOTES. Epstein’s half-decade of peer-reviewed studies show exactly how Google does it, and he documents their shocking success in controlling the world’s elections:

“Randomized, controlled experiments conducted with more than 10,000 people from 39 countries,” says Epstein, “suggest that one company alone – Google LLC, which controls about 90 percent of online search in most countries – has likely been determining the outcomes of upwards of 25 percent of the national elections in the world for several years now, with increasing impact each year as Internet penetration has grown.”

...Bottom line: Big Tech’s two most urgent tasks right now are #1) defeating Donald Trump in November’s election and #2) making dissenting voices disappear, since that’s the only way they can successfully accomplish #1. They’re still kicking themselves for failing during the 2016 election and don’t intend to make the same mistake again. Incredibly, says Epstein (formerly editor-in-chief of Psychology Today), GOOGLE IS NOW POISED TO SWING AS MANY AS 15 MILLION VOTES IN NOVEMBER’S PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION – toward the Democratic candidate!

Candace Owens on Black Lives Matter and Antifa

"This time, we’ve traveled to the very edge of the abyss."

Roger Kimball writes in part in American Greatness,
The name of George Floyd, the career criminal who died in police custody at the end of May, was at first invoked mantra-like to justify or at least to explain this explosion of savagery. Now, a couple of months later, there are still ritual invocations of his name but, really, you don’t hear too much about Floyd. The real agenda has come more and more to the fore. Barack Obama summed it up when he said, in 2008, that he was after the fundamental transformation of the United States of America. Cities like Portland give us a glimpse of what that transformation would entail.

...It may seem melodramatic, but here is the awful choice we face: the choice between the spirit of mayhem, burning pigs’ heads, and burning Bibles, on the one side, and the traditional American spirit that cherishes the rule of law, free expression, and fructifying engines of prosperity, on the other.

This time, we’ve traveled to the very edge of the abyss. Will we tip over into the furnace or pull back at the last moment and choose civilization over anarchy? I think we will choose civilization. I hope so. It could go either way.
