What attracted police attention to Gosnell? Not the abortions. He also had a side business in pill-dealing. One law enforcement named Jim Wood gave it his attention as an undercover drugs officer. Staff told Wood about two deaths of adult females. Wood checked police reports. Nothing!
One of the jurors wanted to know how many abortions Gosnell had performed. His answer? 40,000!
His clinic had not been inspected in 17 years! The nail salon around the corner got inspected every year. Were there botched abortions? Yes, several women sought help in emergency rooms. Doctors wrote notes to the health department. No response.
Although he murdered well over one hundred babies, he was only charged with seven murders because authorities in Pennslyvania did not want their murder statistics to soar.
Phelim talks about the lack of media coverage. "There is no diversity of thought in America's newsrooms. The reporters are so proud of themselves. They don't want to go there. They are all pro choice." Mark says the evil is not just that there is one man killing babies. The evil is that our broader culture would rather he just kept on killing babies because there are political complications to objecting to the killing of babies.

Academic fraud at every level of education

Earlier this month, the 2017 National Assessment of Educational Progress, aka The Nation's Report Card, was released. It's not a pretty story. Only 37 percent of 12th-graders tested proficient or better in reading, and only 25 percent did so in math. Among black students, only 17 percent tested proficient or better in reading, and just 7 percent reached at least a proficient level in math.Read more here.
The atrocious NAEP performance is only a fraction of the bad news. Nationally, our high school graduation rate is over 80 percent. That means high school diplomas, which attest that these students can read and compute at a 12th-grade level, are conferred when 63 percent are not proficient in reading and 75 percent are not proficient in math. For blacks, the news is worse. Roughly 75 percent of black students received high school diplomas attesting that they could read and compute at the 12th-grade level. However, 83 percent could not read at that level, and 93 percent could not do math at that level. It's grossly dishonest for the education establishment and politicians to boast about unprecedented graduation rates when the high school diplomas, for the most part, do not represent academic achievement. At best, they certify attendance.
Fraudulent high school diplomas aren't the worst part of the fraud. Some of the greatest fraud occurs at the higher education levels — colleges and universities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 70 percent of white high school graduates in 2016 enrolled in college, and 58 percent of black high school graduates enrolled in college. Here are my questions to you: If only 37 percent of white high school graduates test as college-ready, how come colleges are admitting 70 percent of them? And if roughly 17 percent of black high school graduates test as college-ready, how come colleges are admitting 58 percent of them.
It's inconceivable that college administrators are unaware that they are admitting students who are ill-prepared and cannot perform at the college level. Colleges cope with ill-prepared students in several ways. They provide remedial courses. One study suggests that more than two-thirds of community college students take at least one remedial course, as do 40 percent of four-year college students. College professors dumb down their courses so that ill-prepared students can get passing grades. Colleges also set up majors with little analytical demands so as to accommodate students with analytical deficits. Such majors often include the term "studies," such as ethnic studies, cultural studies, gender studies and American studies. The major for the most ill-prepared students, sadly enough, is education. When students' SAT scores are ranked by intended major, education majors place 26th on a list of 38.
The bottom line is that colleges are admitting youngsters who have not mastered what used to be considered a ninth-grade level of proficiency in reading, writing and arithmetic. Very often, when they graduate from college, they still can't master even a 12th-grade level of academic proficiency. The problem is worse in college sports. During a recent University of North Carolina scandal, a learning specialist hired to help athletes found that during the period from 2004 to 2012, 60 percent of the 183 members of the football and basketball teams read between fourth- and eighth-grade levels. About 10 percent read below a third-grade level. Keep in mind that all of these athletes both graduated from high school and were admitted to college.

"Resistance," "fascism," "racism," "injustice:" Where have we heard those words before?
On tonight's program, Terry Turchie is a former FBI agent who believes the radicals of the 60s are now entrenched in the Washington bureaucracies. Bill Ayres talked and wrote about the concepts we are hearing today: The chief strategy for infiltrating the government was called "The Resistance" by Ayres and his comrades in the 60s; they also used words like fascism, racism, injustice. The words are back. The people that are using them are in a political party, trying to influence all of us to be attracted to the ideas of socialism and our intelligence agencies under Obama seem to have been part of that.
Thomas Homan is Deputy ICE Director. The caravan of Central Americans seeking asylum have been traveling through Mexico for weeks and are now on the US border. If they were seeking asylum, why didn't they seek asylum in Mexico? Last year we had a 45-year low in illegal immigration but now the smugglers have figured out how to train people what to say. Homan is trying to get Congress to close the loopholes.
Univision has a reporter embedded with the cravan. A Univision anchor appeared as a guest and chided Tucker for asking why the Central Americans were not seeking asylum in Mexico. "Mexico had 26,000 murders last year! But Mexico is not a poor country; it is the tenth largest economy in the world. They come here because the US is saying to Mexicans, "Help Wanted!" The US economy is dependent on cheap labor!

But the prospect of eternal damnation for choosing not to have a relationship with the Creator seems like putting a gun to your head and telling you that you are totally free to choose!
Andrew answers, "We live in a world where there are consequences. If you follow your instincts toward virtue, you are going to get there. If not, you already know you are doing the wrong thing., and that there will be consequences. As you go into the afterlife, the consequences continue.

The police officer tells her he has already spoken to the driver and her daughter, and both wery very nice. She replies, "Guess what? I'm not so nice!" Caren Z. Turner, a Democratic lobbyist and Hillary Clinton finance chairwoman, resigned last week as a commissioner from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey after an investigation was opened into what agency officials would only describe as “profoundly disturbing conduct.”
Today police released video of the back-story where the “conduct” (previously non-described) is evident. Mrs. Turner attempted to intercede in an ordinary traffic stop where her daughter was a passenger. Flashing her Port Authority Badge, the ethics chairwoman attempted to influence the police and went on a vulgar tirade after police refused to acquiesce to her demands. WATCH:

Break up the friggin' judiciary; it's just one more tiny time pill in the slow release poison capsule that is breaking the nation apart. On the international scene, while PDT and Emmanuel Macron seem to be hitting it off, one area of tension is the Iran Nuke Deal Sellout. And as reported yesterday, the Farsis have threatened PDT if he pulls out while the President countered with a threat of serious consequences should they ramp up their nuke program. And linked below, administration officials and other political leaders are outraged that there is a loophole allowing Iran to continue developing ballistic missiles. Deep State's gonna Deep, but that has got to be stopped.
Also, Mutti Merkel is headed our way and that meeting is not going to be as pleasant as with Macron. In any case, the President's nominee to be ambassador to Deutschland is finally coming to a vote thanks to Mitch McKochbrother breaking through the filibuster (more on this later), and that was a source of tension, minor all other things considered, between the Yanks and the Krauts. I think his shift on Pompeo was grandstanding/backtracking/face-saving all in one, but whatever it takes I guess to move things along.
On to politics where the Democrats were hoping to continue their winning streak in GOP districts, but they were stopped cold yesterday in AZ-8. The media is strangely silent. Suddenly. Too bad the kid didn't counter with the truth that the top 1% pay about 12-15% of all Federal taxes and IIRC the top 25% pay well over half. I have to look up that figure and tattoo it on my brain because the bottom 50% pay ZERO federal taxes. But I digress...

Aside from the fact that he bears an uncanny resemblance to Camera Hogg, it underscores where the real fight for the future of this nation is - in the classroom, for the hearts and minds of our children. What Happened to Equality Under the Law?

But what in their past has earned them the moral high ground? Are we supposed to believe that Robert Mueller did not overreach by spinning off an investigation of Trump consigliere and lawyer Michael Cohen?
Why? Because we are also told that a regional federal prosecutor would have to have had good cause to order raids on Cohen? Because a federal judge would have had to have seen such credible evidence before anyone dared enter Cohen’s office and residence? Because another federal justice believes it is in the national interest that we know Michael Cohen knows Sean Hannity?
Trust in the Obama-era directorships of the Justice Department, FBI, and, indeed, the federal courts themselves are now horses that have long ago left the proverbial judicial barn. Should the public also believe that no sober and judicious FISA court judge would ever have approved surveillance of American citizens without asking where the evidence came from, who compiled it, who, if any, paid for it, or had a vested interest in seeing it used for a warrant? Should the public believe that its FBI director, and various deputy attorney generals, would never have dared keep from a FISA court information about their own submitted evidence?
...If the FBI director, the national steward of investigatory ethics, leaks classified government documents with impunity, then who in the United States could be ever prosecuted again for such a crime?
Comey has misled a federal FISA court. Several of his testimonies to Congress about the timelines of his Clinton report, or his care not to leak FBI investigations are probably false. More falsehoods will appear when his memoir is collated with his voluminous testimonies. Either Comey, McCabe, or Loretta Lynch is lying, or in fact, all three are doing so. Comey previously testified that the Steele dossier had no credibility; on his book tour, he now winks and nods that it does.
...We know the Russians dumped dirt to Christopher Steele, and we know too that Comey himself knew that fact, and he knew it well enough not to tell a federal judge. The public would have good cause to see Comey currently indicted and facing federal felonies rather than exempt from charges and cashing in on his miscreant behavior.

For the next decade, the FBI, the Justice Department, and the federal judiciary will have to explain exactly why some Americans can lie to federal investigators, lie to the Congress, destroy subpoenaed evidence, leak classified documents, and face no consequences—while other Americans would have had—and have had—their lives and careers ruined for much less.
...In addition, what the FBI hierarchy did not do seems almost as worrisome as what it did. All of what James Comey is and did follows a disturbing FBI administrative culture of intelligence and preemptive investigatory failures—the Boston Marathon bombing, Fort Hood shooting, and the Orlando and San Bernardino massacres in which knowledge of suspects and their suspect activity should have led the FBI to preemptive action. While an Andrew McCabe was finessing his own conflicts of interest, while the lovesick Page and Strzok were conniving to warp an election, and while Comey was orchestrating his special counsel appointment gambit, how much other important FBI business was simply ignored?
...Self-righteousness and self-referencing become fatal when combined with incompetence and malfeasance. James Comey is our touchstone to a morally confused age.

Those who didn't oblige the cowardly Turkish savages by dying along the way were forced to march in circles around the destination death camps, again, no food or water, until they dropped dead.
Others were put aboard ships, taken out into the middle of the Mediterranean or Black Seas, and thrown overboard.
Some were crucified.
To this second, Turkey denies all of this, and manufactures and distributes slander against their victims and survivors.

...I do think it's useful to start thinking about the unthinkable, and considering the possibility of the "impossible," that a peaceful national divorce might be in everyone's best interests -- especially the children's.
I'm open, of course, to explanations as to why it wouldn't be.
But I'd like to get past the part where people just start jumping up and down screaming "But that's unthinkable! Why that's impossible!"
People who claim that everything they don't like is unthinkable are really just saying they don't like thinking very much, and would prefer straight-line projections involving nigh-unchanging circumstances so that they aren't forced into that whole bother of thinking at all.
These things aren't "unthinkable." They're being thought about. That right there is all the evidence any non-idiot should need to dismiss the claim that they're "unthinkable."
Whether a national divorce is advisable is of course open to debate -- but the claim that it's "unthinkable" is just something thick-witted people say to impose their own defect of imagination on people smarter than they are.

Are you reading a lot about the House IT scandal? I didn't think so.
We constantly hear about officials at the DOJ and FBI slow-walking documents subpoenad by Congress. What about the scandal in which Congressional officials are doing the slow-walking? I refer to the House IT scandal. Rachel Bovard writes in American Greatness,
Here are the basic facts. On February 2, 2017, Chiefs of Staff in several House offices were notified of a criminal probe into several House information technology (IT) staffers, for theft of computer equipment, overbilling, and, most disturbingly, the presence of an external email server to which House data was being funneled.Read more here.
The probe, first raised by investigators in the House Inspector General’s (IG) office, centered around five House IT staffers, all immediate family members—brothers Abid, Imran and Jamal Awan, as well as Imran’s wife, Hina Alvvi, and Abid’s wife, Natalia Sova. All were shared employees of over forty House offices, meaning they were hired by multiple House offices, which split their salaries.
As IT staffers, the group had significant access to the correspondence, emails and confidential files of Members of Congress, with almost no one tracking them. Bizarrely, these IT staff were not subject to background checks— which, given what these staffers are alleged to have engaged in, seems to be a massive oversight.
In addition to working as House IT staff for over forty members of Congress, several on key intelligence and foreign relations committees, Imran Awan and his brothers (two of which had criminal records) ran a car dealership in Virginia. The dealership was reportedly plagued with financial mismanagement, leading to angry investors and unpaid debts.
...Remarkably, neither Awan, his wife, nor any of his family members have been charged for their repeated unauthorized access to congressional networks.
The obvious question is why. After documentation of thousands of unauthorized breaches, a missing server whose contents are now unaccounted for, and thousands of dollars in missing equipment, it beggars belief that anyone could still be incredulous about whether or not a crime was committed.
...Can we pause for a moment and appreciate how terribly ironic this is? Many of these same Democrats who are demanding the president’s impeachment for unproven collusion allegations have their own cybersecurity scandal —one they refuse to address or even acknowledge.
This is astonishing not only for its rank hypocrisy, but also given the 2016 hack of the server at the Democratic National Campaign committee, which resulted in DNC emails being published on Wikileaks. Many Democrats lament the role those leaked emails played in tarnishing the candidacy of Hillary Clinton prior to Election Day. And yet, these Democrats refuse to take the breaches seriously, or even to implement recommended reforms.
But, politics aside, this issue is beyond mere “whataboutism.” The security of the House has been compromised, and the investigation into how and why is being stymied by Democratic lawmakers who conveniently claim to care about electoral integrity—until it may impact them.
...Democrats must address this scandal, or the House leadership should take the matter into their own hands. Politics aside, no breach of this magnitude should be left unaddressed, particularly when it comes to the scope of the information that may be at stake.
George H.W. Bush in intensive care

Former President George H.W. Bush was hospitalized in an intensive care unit on Sunday, one day after his late wife Barbara Bush's funeral.Read more here.
"President Bush was admitted to the Houston Methodist Hospital yesterday morning after contracting an infection that spread to his blood," Bush's office said in a statement on Monday. "He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering."
CNN reported Bush was suffering from an infection which led to sepsis, which can be life-threatening.
The news comes days after Bush and his family attended the funeral of former first lady Barbara Bush, who passed away last week at the age of 92 after she decided to seek comfort care instead of medical treatment.
The 41st president mourned his wife of 73 years in a statement last week, calling her "a woman unlike any other."

The program started out with the panelists saying the Senate Foreign Relations Committee isn't going to approve Mike Pompeo as Secretary of State tonight. Republicans do not have enough votes, they agreed, since Rand Paul refuses to support Pompeo! McConnell says he is going to keep the nomination open for consideration. Kimberley does a beautiful job explaining why Pompeo should be approved. The same Congressional committee approved John Kerry! Greg said comparing John Kerry to Mike Pompeo is like comparing a stick of driftwood to an iPhone! It's like during the Olympics trying to take out your star teammate (Pompeo has been meeting with Kim Jong Un to set up the Korean talks).
Whoops! While the Five were waiting for the committee vote, they were notified that Rand Paul will be a yes vote! Pompeo will be approved!
A big argument broke out when Juan attacked the other four for their support of Kanye West and Candace Owens. Juan rudely spoke over the voices of the four panelists as they tried to make their points. Kimberlee was especially dynamic.
Juan also loudly approves of the DNC lawsuit about alleged collusion between Russia, Trump and Wikileaks in the 2016 election. Kimberlee again shines, pointing out that Perez is playing to his Leftist base. Jesse points out that the Democrats are broke, and this is a fundraising scheme for the midterm elections.

Nashville nude nut killer still at large
In the Conservative Treehouse, Sundance writes about the horrific shooting at a Nashville Waffle House this morning. He includes a video of the press conference held by Nashville authorities. The suspect was still at large at the time of the briefing. A young black man who suffered a bullet wound heroically saved many lives when he grabbed the shooter's gun and threw it across the room.
The shooter was arrested last summer near the White House when he tried to cross a barrier. Four guns were confiscated from him after that incident and were given to his father. The father gave them all back to him! Four people were killed by this semi-naked nut this morning and four more injured. He was nude except for a jacket, which he shed as he ran away.

Is it time for Mueller to cut his losses?

Most would probably say anything to avoid a five, ten, or even twenty-year prison sentence -- even something untrue.
Trump’s pardon of Libby was brilliant. It sent Cohen a message that he wasn’t going to go to jail. If the president was willing to pardon someone who worked for Dick Cheney, probably the man most hated by those on the left and the media, at least until Donald Trump came along, he would pardon Cohen as well.
The Libby pardon took all the air out of Mueller’s attempt to “turn” Cohen. I would have loved to be in the room when Mueller got the news -- time to hit the Johnny Walker Black heavy or beat his dog or something.
If anything, it shows Mueller that Donald Trump is a different kind of Republican. I like Mitt Romney and I think he would have made a decent president, certainly better than Barack Obama, who admittedly set the bar low. Yet, does anyone believe Romney would play dirty like Mueller plays? Or would he fold his hand and accept impeachment rather than fight?
Then something else happened. Rudy Giuliani joined Team Trump.
Trump and Giuliani together are an entirely different animal; they won’t give up; they will fight to the death. Throw in Inspector General Horowitz’s investigation (the report will drop in May) and U.S. Attorney John Huber’s criminal investigation of the FBI (with grand jury power), as well as the public tiring of his witch-hunt, and Mueller must realize he is not on the winning side and unless he has evidence of something criminal on Trump -- and after almost a year that doesn’t seem likely -- he can’t possibly win. In fact, he must be wondering whether many of his witnesses are about to be charged with crimes themselves.
I think Mueller realizes this and has had enough. He’s a smart guy and I think he understands it is time to cut his losses and salvage whatever is left of his reputation.

Some people may experience atypical symptoms like sweating, nausea or even flulike symptoms rather than classic chest-clutching pain, Dr. Steinbaum said. Rosie O’Donnell, the talk show host, experienced such unusual symptoms during her 2012 heart attack – which she has described as “hot, exhausted, pain, pale, puke,” or HEPPP — that she didn’t seek medical attention until the next day.
Even if you have no family history of cardiovascular disease, you may be at risk because of advancing age, smoking, lack of exercise, poor diet, chronic conditions like diabetes, stress and anxiety or depression, social isolation or excess body weight, particularly abdominal fat, Dr. Steinbaum said.
A visit to the doctor for tests will tell if you have specific risk factors for heart disease like high blood pressure or high cholesterol, which can be treated with medications, dietary changes and other measures. “The more honest you are about the lifestyle you have, the better your chances of preventing something from happening,” Dr. Steinbaum said.

A man who believed he was above moral law commits murders and realizes he was wrong. A friend who is a prostitute begins to lead him to Christ.
Once you find there is a moral law, there is no escaping God! Until the age of 28, Andrew says he was a really miserable, depressed human being. Since that time he has lived a life of increasing joy. But at age 29 he thought he should commit suicide. He tells the story of Mets catcher Gary Carter saying, "Sometimes you have to play in pain!" All we have to do is speak the truth, and the truth will set us free!
Andrew thinks the best Christian work of the last twenty years is The Sopranos. Art rises at certain times. We now live in the golden age of television. How to be cool? Stop trying! Any time you make people laugh, you're cool! The Left are knuckleheads! Just report what they say. You'll win the culture war!

Earth Day founder's composted girl friend
I don't think I knew this about Earth Day founder Ira Einhorn. In 2011 Remy Melina reported in NBC,
Ira Einhorn was on stage hosting the first Earth Day event at the Fairmount Park in Philadelphia on April 22, 1970. Seven years later, police raided his closet and found the "composted" body of his ex-girlfriend inside a trunk.Read more here.
...But the charismatic spokesman who helped bring awareness to environmental issues and preached against the Vietnam War — and any violence — had a secret dark side. When his girlfriend of five years, Helen "Holly" Maddux, moved to New York and broke up with him, Einhorn threatened that he would throw her left-behind personal belongings onto the street if she didn't come back to pick them up.
And so on Sept. 9, 1977, Maddux went back to the apartment that she and Einhorn had shared in Philadelphia to collect her things, and was never seen again. When Philadelphia police questioned Einhorn about her mysterious disappearance several weeks later, he claimed that she had gone out to the neighborhood co-op to buy some tofu and sprouts and never returned.
It wasn't until 18 months later that investigators searched Einhorn's apartment after one of his neighbors complained that a reddish-brown, foul-smelling liquid was leaking from the ceiling directly below Einhorn's bedroom closet. Inside the closet, police found Maddux's beaten and partially mummified body stuffed into a trunk that had also been packed with Styrofoam, air fresheners and newspapers.
After his arrest, Einhorn jumped bail and spent decades evading authorities by hiding out in Ireland, Sweden, the United Kingdom and France. After 23 years, he was finally extradited to the United States from France and put on trial. Taking the stand in his own defense, Einhorn claimed that his ex-girlfriend had been killed by CIA agents who framed him for the crime because he knew too much about the agency's paranormal military research. He was convicted of murdering Maddux and is currently serving a life sentence.

He told the Cardinal that Nancy Pelosi would be attending the next day's Mass, and asked if the Cardinal would kindly point out Pelosi to the congregation and say a few words that would include calling Pelosi a saint.
The Cardinal replied, "No. I don't really like the woman, and there are issues of conflict with the Catholic Church over some of Pelosi's views." Pelosi's aide then said, "Look, I'll write a check here and now for a donation of $100,000 to you if you'll just tell the congregation you see Pelosi as a saint."
The Cardinal thought about it and said, "Well, the Church can use the money, so I'll work your request into tomorrow's sermon." As Pelosi's aide promised, Nancy Pelosi appeared for the Sunday worship and seated herself prominently at the forward left side of the center aisle. As promised, at the start of his sermon, the Cardinal pointed out that Ms. Pelosi was present.
The Cardinal went on to explain to the congregation, "While Ms. Pelosi's presence is probably an honor to some, the woman is not numbered among my personal favorite personages. Some of her most egregious views are contrary to tenets of the Church, and she tends to flip-flop on many other issues. Nancy Pelosi is a petty, self-absorbed hypocrite, a thumb sucker, and a nit-wit. Nancy Pelosi is also a serial liar, a cheat, and a thief. I must say, Nancy Pelosi is the worst example of a Catholic I have ever personally witnessed. She married for money and is using her wealth to lie to the American people. The Left owns the narrative, but we can get it back!
The Left gives us a narrative we are supposed to follow. The Left owns the narrative, and conservatives don't seem to care. Instead of giving a politician 100,000 dollars, buy a woman's magazine or some other item that influences people.
7% of journalists identify as Republicans. 28% identify as Democrats. The rest are lying, and are Democrats! Fox News gets one tenth the audience as the networks.
40,000 people a year die in cars. The death the other day on Southwest was the first fatlity in a commercial airplane since 2009.
Andrew talks about the availability heuristic. Under the availability heuristic, people tend to heavily weigh their judgments toward more recent information, making new opinions biased toward that latest news. People who believe that America is racist vote for Democrats. 78& of Democrats believe America is racist. Democrats run the news industry. Your mind is shaped by the ideas that are available to you.
Did conservatives kill JFK, as Kevin Costner asserts in the movie JFK, or was it a loony tunes communist named Lee Harvey Oswald who was afraid JFK would go after Castro, so he assassinated him? Hollywood continues to solidify the narrative and Kevin Costner is the hero in the movie. In real life the court hearing depicted in the movie was over in an hour and the case was thrown out.
During the war on terror Hollywood made one anti-war movie after another and few people watched the movies. Then Clint Eastwood made American Sniper and people showed up for it in droves, because our guys were the good guys.
Hollywood made a movie about the Scooter Libby/Valerie Plame issue called Fair Game. Life is short, art is long. The Left owns the narrative. We are all living in Truman's world (the Jim Carrey movie).
The Left uses language to demonize normal human life. The objectification of women: what does that mean? It means men like to look at women! Racial profiling. Cultural appropriation is one of the best things about America! Come into our country (legally), adopt our creed, bring the spaghetti!
The Left believes there is no moral reality. So, if you win the narrative, you win the eorld. This is why they shout at you when you say boys and girls (and men and women) are different.
The inner world has to be aligned with the real world. That's what stories are for. The truth will set you free, but you gotta know how to tell it!

Once entrenched, they keep people out. The blacklists of the 50s is nothing compared with what they do to Christians and conservatives today!

Fake news was a campaign started on the left. It's purpose was to encourage censorship of conservative views by the tech titans. Why don't we build our own platforms? Not conservative platforms, open platforms! Belief in debate, in free speech. Not shutting people down. How America is done!

In The Daily Caller Katie Jerkovich reports,
A California school district says that parents can’t opt out of a new sex education course that will deal with abortion, homosexuality and transgender issues.
California passed a law called the California Healthy Youth Act in 2015 to promote “healthy attitudes” about “gender [and] sexual orientation.” The law is meant to teach students about the “effectiveness and safety of all FDA-approved contraceptive methods” and allow for “objective discussion” about “parenting, adoption, and abortion.”
The law also gives parents the ability to opt-out of this education and said that the “pupil” shall not be punished academically in any way if they don’t participate.
However, the Orange County Board of Education has decided that parents don’t have a right to exclude their kids from the class, LifeSite News reports. A memo from the Orange County Department of Education general counsel Ronald Wenkart on March 29 stated that the opt-out provision “does not apply to instruction, materials, or programming that discusses gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, discrimination, harassment, bullying, intimidation, relationships, or family and does not discuss human reproductive organs.”
And parents who disagree with any “materials related to gender, gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation may not excuse their children from this instruction,” Wenkart added. He also cited judicial precedent for the decision.
“Parents do not have a constitutional right to excuse their children from portions of the school curriculum that they find objectionable,” he continued.
The state-approved “tool kit” for the course includes topics about lubricants, anal sex and sex toys, according to Red State.

Also approved is a book about transgender kids called “I Am Jazz.” Resources listed in the guide include Planned Parenthood and Advocates for Youth.
A national Sex-ed Sit Out protest has been planned on April 23 as a way for people to make their voices heard. Parents are encouraged to pull their kids out of school Monday to speak out against the “sexualization of our children” in the classroom.

Yesterday was a high holiday for pot smokers. Chuck Schumer seems to believe that one way to solidify the Democratic base is to pass a new federal law to decriminalize marijuana. Greg supports that move. He gets angry at Rachel and suggests that the best thing a parent can do is make marijuana usage boring, so it loses that edgy reputation. Rachel and Greg differ as to whether marijuana is a gateway drug.

Once again we are seeing just how far American society has fallen when it comes to good manners, common courtesy, a little tact, or simply being kind. Some of the comments following the death of Barbara Bush have been hateful beyond measure. I just kept thinking of that old line, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothing at all.” A little less vitriol, both said and written, recently would have been nice. I am ashamed to be of the same species as those who would strike out at a dead woman and her mourning family. ...The media and establishment DC who reflexively defend Mueller haven’t explained how they came to trust him so completely. It’s a question worth asking given the bumpy historical record of Mueller’s tenure as FBI director from 2001 to 2013.
The Anthrax Bungling
Shortly after the terrorist attacks in 2001, letters containing anthrax were mailed to media outlets and the offices of Sens. Tom Daschle, D-S.D., and Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., killing five people and infecting 17 others. The FBI quickly focused on an innocent man named Steven Hatfill, relentlessly pursuing him for years while the real killer walked free. As Carl Cannon wrote about the botched case, ridiculous and aggressive methods were used to go after the wrong man.
...Mueller placed Special Agent Van Harp in charge of the initial investigation. He had been “accused of misconduct and recommended for discipline for his role in a flawed review of the deadly Ruby Ridge standoff,” according to a Washington Post report. He had helped “prepare an incomplete report on the 1992 Ruby Ridge siege that had the effect of protecting high-level FBI officials, according to a confidential 1999 report by the Justice Department’s Office of Professional Responsibility.”
As aggressive as Mueller can be about pursuing the wrong man, he showed surprising leniency and laxity when it came to the case of Samuel “Sandy” Berger, a Clinton White House national security adviser. In the run-up to testifying before the 9/11 Commission that sought to examine the failures that led to those terrorist attacks, Berger visited the National Archives to review classified documents with his notes on them.
But instead he intentionally removed and destroyed multiple copies of a classified document the commission should have reviewed for national security purposes, and lied to investigators about it. He was found to have stuffed the documents in his socks and otherwise hidden them. His punishment was that he was allowed to plead guilty in 2005 to a single misdemeanor. He served no jail time but had to give up his security clearance for three years.

Have Columbine's lessons been learned?
Remember Columbine? Those of us who were living in Colorado at the time surely do. Robby Soave laments in Reason's Hit and Run blog that Columbine's lessons have not been learned.
The press, the public, and policymakers are often ignorant, and doing the wrong thing can be just as counterproductive as not doing anything. In the wake of Columbine, so-called experts completely misdiagnosed the causes of the crime, and they decided to implement "safety" policies that gravely undermined students' rights without making schools any safer.Read more here.
On April 20, 1999, two teenagers, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, marched into Columbine High School in Columbine, Colorado, and murdered 12 students and one teacher. They had planned to use explosives to kill many, many more, but their bombs failed to detonate.
Desperate for answers, the media quickly seized on "bullying" as its preferred explanation: Harris and Klebold were unpopular kids who had been brutally mistreated by their classmates, until finally they snapped and decided to shoot up the school as an act of revenge.
The journalist Dave Cullen has done excellent work debunking this and other myths associated with Columbine. No, Harris and Klebold weren't notably victimized by bullying. No, they didn't want revenge on specific students—they didn't specifically target jocks, Christians, popular kids, or any other group of students during their rampage. No, they weren't part of a cult. Neither comic books nor violent video games nor goth culture were responsible for the attack.
Harris, according to Cullen, was a true psychopath: He enjoyed hurting people because he hated them and thought himself superior. Klebold was depressed and suicidal, and he largely followed Harris's lead. As Cullen wrote in Slate many years ago:
What [Harris] was really expressing was contempt.
He is disgusted with the morons around him. [His diaries] are not the rantings of an angry young man, picked on by jocks until he's not going to take it anymore. These are the rantings of someone with a messianic-grade superiority complex, out to punish the entire human race for its appalling inferiority.
