US to pull out of UN Human Rights Council this afternoon

At Hot Air, Ed Morrissey tells us that this afternoon Mike Pompeo and Nikki Haley are holding a news conference to announce the withdrawal of the US from the UN Human rights council. Ed writes in part,

Having Cuba and Venezuela as human-rights judges is the equivalent of putting Harvey Weinstein on a commission to promote female empowerment in the workplace. It’s grotesque, and it’s long past time that the US ceased cooperating with it.
