"The Democratic Party is a medieval pyramid."

Here is the full video of Victor Davis Hanson speaking last month.

We have not seen a more polarized climate since the 60s. Donald Trump didn't create the wound, but he was the scab over the wound.

The Democratic Party is a medieval pyramid. It's got a small capstone of wealthy people who live on the coasts, whose main article of faith is that they have a utopian vision that they push with the assumption that the ramifications of their own ideology never apply to themselves. They are big global warmists, but they do not want to give up their corporate jets. They believe no one should have school choice, but they put their kids in private academies. That group of people at the top of the Democrat pyramid detests Donald Trump.

At The National Review VDH kept finding himself 8 to 1 in his willingness to vote for Donald Trump. The conservative elite found him unpalatable.

What is character? Trump fights for an agenda he thinks will help average Americans. Would Romney or McCain have done that? No! People were eager for somebody finally to fight back! Trump understood that. He has an animal prescient cunning.

Trump's success rests on three areas. One is the agenda. He has been issuing wonderful Executive Orders, and once he gets Congress to enact his agenda, he will have real momentum. Reagan was very unpopular in 1981 and 82, but in 83 he started to gain momentum when we achieved 7.1 % growth in GDP from Nov. 1983-Nov. 1984. Fracking has done more for all of us than almost any other phenomena. A large number of industries dependent on cheap electricity are looking at investing in the US.

If Trump were to achieve 3% growth, which hasn't happened in the last eleven years, then a lot of the intractable problems would start to ease.

A third area is we are in a virtual civil war. People are trying to find mechanisms to destroy Trump without having an election. How does he stop that narrative? Nunez and Sessions should have never recused themselves. Congress needs to start hearings on Samantha Power, John Brennan and Susan Rice. And Loretta Lynch and her Federal Bureau of "Matters." And James Comey. And especially the Clinton Foundation!

VDH believes this is the most dangerous and interesting time in the last fifty years. Under Obama we were headed toward a globalization and transformation of the country where we were turning over political, social, economic and cultural control to a group of elites on both the Left and the Right whose main ideology was that they knew best what was good for the rest of us. They were always confident that they had the influence or capital to navigate around it. That had alienated a large number of people who were losing to globalization and the way to correct that tumor was a chemotherapy cobalt treatment from Donald Trump. But it is better to have the medicine than live with the disease!

In the question and answer period, VDH said the media puts an inordinate amount of value on the young graduates of blue-chip journalism schools, which is indoctrinated education. The old media is dying. Now there is an insurrectionary conservative answer to whatever the mainstream media is presenting (through Fox, Breitbart, and Drudge primarily). 85% of the US land space is voting red, but only has 50% of the vote and the other 15% also has 50% of the vote.
