What is important to late night comedy nowadays is to have the correct attitude. "Jokes" have evolved into a demonstration of a correct attitude. That's why they couldn't figure out the comedy in joking about Harvey Weinstein, who was supposedly "on the side of the angels" (Hillary). It is essential to be able to see the comedy in your own side! Once you lose that, there are very few laughs!
