The opening was given to him, first, by the Democratic party that long ago ignored blue-collar workers in favor of identity politics, cultural wackiness, boutique environmentalism, the new progressive rich, and redistributionism — as it became a political pyramid of a plutocratic capstone atop a broad subsidized base — with not much in between.
