Undermining their story

In what must be regarded as a clever tactical retreat, Planned Parenthood announced earlier this week that it would forgo payment for the fetal body parts it harvests from abortions carried out at their clinics. By giving up what we now know is a significant revenue stream, the group is hoping to fend off a number of Congressional investigations into its conduct as well as terrible public relations mess it has found itself in. Their problems stem from the publication of a series of investigative videos that showed the crass and venal manner with which its officials sought to profit from the sale of the results of abortions. But while the organization and its fervent defenders in the Democratic Party have continued to insist that it had done nothing wrong, the move to stop the sales is more than a way to cut their losses. It’s an admission of guilt that should also encourage Congress to continue further probing their activities and to cut off all federal funding.
