One NBA player is standing up to Communist China's numerous human rights abuses

Lindell Lucy brings to our attention the plight of NBA player Enes Kantor. Kantor has stood up to human rights violators in his home country of Turkey, and now is standing up to Communist China because of their numerous human rights abuses.

China’s authoritarian government should not be allowed to buy the NBA’s silence, and the NBA should not be complicit in a CCP-orchestrated attack on the career of one of its players — a naked attempt to undermine free speech and cover up its ongoing industrial-scale human rights abuses.

The NBA consequently faces a moral dilemma. It can quietly take China’s money and throw Kanter under the bus (along with Taiwanese, Tibetans, Hongkongers, and Uyghurs), or it can stand in solidarity with Kanter by expressing robust support for human rights, democracy, and freedom of speech — including for people who live under the shadow of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Civil asset forfeiture

I don't understand legal reasoning. Or, perhaps I should say, I don't understand certain aspects about American jurisprudence. For example, civil asset forfeiture. How did that ever become a thing? "Sir, you're under arrest for blah blah blah and therefore we get to take everything we think is connected with your criminal activity, which, whoopsie, is pretty much everything you own. Too bad. We'll decide later if we want to actually charge you with a crime. Meanwhile, good luck trying to get your property back."

How did that ever pass constitutional muster? I thought "no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process" was a bedrock principal of our system of government. So how is it 'due process' when your property becomes forfeit just because some LE agency decides to raid your house?

The worst defense in the world!

Ace of Spades believes Kyle Rittenhouse has the worst defense in the world!

They have constantly allowed Litttlefinger to act as his own "expert witness" and testify as a prosecutor. An expert has to be voir dire'd, to establish his expert status. Littlefinger has none. The defense never objects. Never. Ever. Never ever ever.

They just let him testify and testify to things never entered into evidence, acting as an expert witness who was never established as such.

They let him testify earlier that "you cannot fire a gun with your bicep blown off." So now he's a medical doctor.

Littlefinger is whatever sort of expert he needs to be at any particular moment, and the defense just sits there in silent stupidity.

Will this be the end of self-defense in Wisconsin?

Governor Evers of Wisconsin has authorized 500 Wisconsin National Guard troops in anticipation of the Rittenhouse verdict.

You could say this was prudent, because if there is anything less than a conviction on the most serious charges, riots have been promised. You could also say – and you’d be correct – that this is just another element of the case that will tend to intimidate the jury from rendering a “not guilty” verdict. I would add that in my opinion this jury should have been sequestered, because all of this could have easily been foreseen. But I’m not even sure that the defense asked for that, and at any rate it was not done.

What’s more, irony abounds. Evers didn’t see fit to call the Guard when the Kenosha riots occurred, but he should have. And that’s not just 20/20 hindsight; it was quite obvious at the time. If he had done so, it is highly likely that Rosenbaum and Huber would still be alive, Grosskreutz would have retained his biceps, and Kyle Rittenhouse’s entire future wouldn’t be in jeopardy. There were so many points along the way when authorities made the wrong decisions, and I don’t think it was mere incompetence, I think it was a combination of cowardice and leftist ideology, with sometimes one predominating and sometimes the other.

A legal loophole known as a trial!

KENOSHA, WI—Leftists are sounding the alarm that Kyle Rittenhouse—a notorious slayer of white communist pedophiles—may escape punishment through a little-known legal loophole known as a "trial."

"This is very concerning," said Chip Cordray, progressive legal expert covering the case. "Using this obscure loophole, Rittenhouse's fate will be decided by an impartial jury of peers based on evidence, rather than the whims of noble communist revolutionaries on Twitter—such as Bette Midler and Joe Biden."

Experts confirm that if Rittenhouse is found "not guilty," liberals won't be getting their way, which could lead to massive temper-tantrums, such as arson and looting.

"We can't let this happen," said Cordray. "It's time to talk about closing the 'trial' loophole so that justice can be done according to the whims of the leftist mob, as our founding fathers intended."

Rittenhouse closing arguments Monday

The court ends its day. Closing arguments Monday and the case goes to the jury. I didn't listen closely to jury instructions, but based on what I did hear from the Rekieta crew, it was a very dark day, with the judge constantly rolling over for the prosecution and agreeing to a set of instructions that is almost guaranteed to send Kyle Rittenhouse to jail for a long time, if not for his entire life.

People laugh at the media for getting things wrong. But they get things wrong intentionally -- for example, to pressure a judge to start "getting things right" from their perspective. The trial is supposed to come out guilty and they won't tell people why it might not come out guilty so if it comes out not guilty there will be riots, and it must be the judge's fault there were riots. And weak men roll over for the media's battlespace preparation, not wanting to be snubbed in their social circles for causing antifa and BLM to so-understandably commit First Amendment arson and so-peacefully riot.

Chinese officials are willing to admit they have a big problem with demographics, but they are reluctant to concede the ruthless population control measures of the past 40 years were a mistake, and even more reluctant to admit their demographic decline might pose a severe risk to the Chinese economy in the near future.

“Data showed a fertility rate of 1.3 children per woman for 2020 alone, on par with ageing societies like Japan and Italy. The shrill alarm for China’s policymakers is that the world’s second-biggest economy may already be in irreversible population decline without having first accumulated the household wealth of G7 nations,” Reuters noted in May, when the lowest Chinese birth rates since the 1950s were recorded.
