Emotionalism and doctrinaire self-righteousness

At Facebook, Jeff Goldstein writes,
We’ve embraced emotionalism as a society, and protected our decision to do so by surrounding it with esteem-fluffing and hair-trigger, faux-offendedness.

Doctrinaire self-righteousness is the new coin of the realm. And we’re worse off for it.
