What is Mattis thinking?

Opposition is mounting to General Mattis's recommendation To Trump to pick Anne Patterson as Undersecretary of Defense for policy. Under Obama, she supported Muslim Brotherhood bad people.

If Mattis convinces Trump to pick her, it will not sit well with Middle Eastern allies, such as Egypt or Jordan.
UPDATE: That was fast! The Washington Post says Mattis has withdrawn his recommendation!
