The blog Mostly Cajun, All American and Opinionated has a feature in which he comments on "this day in history." for examples, on November 16, 1945
Cold War: Operation Paperclip: The United States Army secretly admits 88 German scientists and engineers to help in the development of rocket technology. These guys helped put us into space.Did you know that?
Here is another from November 15, 1943:
Holocaust: German SS leader Heinrich Himmler orders that Gypsies are to be put “on the same level as Jews and placed in concentration camps”. Once you are able to justify killing off one group, it’s easy to justify the next…
Another on November 15, 1969:
Vietnam War: In Washington, D.C., 250,000-500,000 protesters staged a peaceful demonstration against the war, including a symbolic “March Against Death”. The real deaths occurred after the US abandoned South Viet Nam and the communists took over. 165,000 South Vietnamese died in “Re-education camps” and nobody has a figure for how many “boat people” died trying to escape Communism in rickety vessels. “All we are saying, is give peace a chance”.
One more from November 15, 1988:
Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: An independent State of Palestine is proclaimed by the Palestinian National Council. Yeah, they’re “independent” as long as the international community sends in enough money to make the ruling class happy, to buy enough stuff to murder their Israeli neighbors, and maybe have enough left over to buy groceries.
