Pray for Bob

My husband, Bob, had a heart attack yesterday. He called me in town when I was taking the kids to school and told me to stay by the phone, he wasn't feeling well. Then he called right back and said that he was having chest pains, labored breathing and was sweating. I hung up and called 911. We live 25 minutes from town, so, the paramedics got there before I did. They were working on him when I arrived and quickly moved him by ambulance to a hospital nearby. The doctors found blood clots in both lungs (Bob is not a smoker, never has been). Last night , he was moved to ICU and by noon he was in cardiac arrest. They went in and put shunts in a 99% ecluded artery. He is on blood thinners for the clots, which are small and will hopefully just dissolve. His prognosis is good, as there are no other badly ecluded arteries.
Thanks be to God, who brought him into the hospital with blood clots so we could save him during a heart attack. They say if it had happened at home, we probably wouldn't have been able to save him.
He is in good spirits, but, exhausted.
He just wanted his blog friends to know where he is and why he isn't posting.

I love you, honey.NO more Good Times burgers for you!!!!!
(There may be some spelling errors, like, maybe "ecluded" has 2 Cs, I'm just too spent to fix them)

  2. Y'all certainly have my prayers. I was wondering what was up since Bob posts so frequently.

Colleen, remember to take care of yourself during this time, and lean on those who will help. You are going to need it.

Tell Bob to expect to seem mentally foggy for a while - maybe up to several months. It took me that long after my heart attack. If he gets by with stents he's a lucky guy - they may be installing some "filters" to possibly arrest the clots if they break loose. Coumadin will no doubt be a major part of his life from now on as well. I refer to it affectionately as rat poison, which is basically what it is.

At any rate, know y'all are in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there.

  3. Y'all are certainly in my prayers. And thank God for getting Bob to the hospital in time. And thank God that you called 911 instead of trying to get to him first.

    Dear Jesus,
Divine Physician and Healer of the Sick, we turn to You in this time of illness. O dearest Comforter of the Troubled, alleviate our worry and sorrow with Your gentle love,
and grant us the grace and strength to accept this burden. Dear God,
we place our worries in Your hands.
We ask that You restore Your servant to health again.
Above all, grant us the grace to acknowledge Your holy will and know that whatsoever You do, You do for the love of us.

    Amen.

  11. You are all in my prayers. I can relate to what you're going through:

My father suffered a heart atack a few years ago. He is a completely healthy, non-smoker who is always active. I was a complete shock to all of us.

The good news is he had the same treatment you just described & made a 100% recovery.

May God, family & friends be with you always.

  12. Bob & Colleen, Both of you please get well and continue to be a beacon. Our prayers for Bob's recovery, Colleen's worry and all of the children's confusion and fear.

If I were a betting man, I'd give 9 - 1 odds that we'll see another photo of a beautiful sky over playing kids at the Bob's Blog Estate by Christmas!

At least that is my hope.

  22. Very sorry to hear about y'all's ordeal. I've just seen a friend go through this and it's exhausting for everybody involved. I hope you guys can have a very merry Christmas all the same. Best wishes to you and Bob and your family, and I'll remember you in my prayers this Christmas season.

  25. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

And make sure to praise him for deciding it wasn't just the flu. Been there myself September 2006 and was told the same thing about the survival.

    God bless you both.

Good to know the prognosis is good. Apparently, you can't keep a good man down!

    PS: It's "occluded."

  30. I'm a medical man, rather than a religious one, so can only offer you understanding, empathy and good thoughts, rather than prayers.

But you've got those in the bucketload.
