Thanks I Am Giving

Guest post by Suzann Darnall

There is such an abundance of material out there for a political essay, but I am just too overwhelmed with my feelings of gratitude to write about anything except being thankful. So, in this month when so many Americans traditionally give thanks for their blessings each day leading up to Thanksgiving Day, I am going to write my list out in one fell swoop and share it with all y’all. These are in no particular order, not from best to least or otherwise, just put down as they have occurred to me throughout the day.

I am thankful for:

1. Our Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence.

2. Donald J. Trump being our president.

3. Family. My husband, our daughters, our sons-in-law, our grandchildren, our siblings, my parents, and our extended 4. Friends. Some near and dear, some faraway, but just as dear. Best friends, good friends, friends that are like family.

5. The Gospel of Jesus Christ, freedom of religion, my ward family, and the LDS Church.

6. My talents in needle crafts, especially quilting and crocheting. Fills my soul with joy.

7. My animals. Those who live with me know and those who brought me joy in the past.

8. Having a safe, comfortable, and lovely home. Surrounded by my beloved keepsakes.

9. Having enough to eat each and every day, as well as the freedom and finances to buy what I wish at the grocery stores or restaurants.

10. So much beauty of nature around me. Trees, flowers, butterflies, deer, lightning bugs, and so much more.

11. My pickup truck. It is serving me well after the loss of my lil red car.

12. Computers, tablets, cell phones, smart TVs, and technology in general. It is frustrating at times, but definitely more good than bad!

13. Refrigerator, microwave, washer, dryer, freezer, electric can opener, toaster, and so many other appliances that make my life as a homemaker easier and more rewarding.

14. My relatively good health. While I do have some issues, they are so minor when compared to what others suffer. How can I be anything but grateful each day I awaken?

15. The portico my sweet husband built for me as a safe place for my roses.

16. Having lost more than 100 pounds and keeping most of it off for many years now.

17. Being able to buy comfortable cowboy boots at reasonable cost. Ariat Fatbabies rule!

18. Freedom of speech which allows me to protest.

19. Being able to write about politics or whatever and post it online.

20. My husband having been able to complete one successful career and start a second one.

21. Rugby! It is making me miss NFL and NBA a lot less.

22. Knowing how to cook, bake, and prepare food in general.

23. Almost always having a huge and delicious turkey for our Thanksgiving dinner.

Of course, there are many more things I am grateful for, but this will do for now. I hope you count your blessings this month and give thanks come T-Day and the feast. God bless!
