Killing people who don't subscribe to your view of political Islam

Charles Lipson has some thoughts about terrorism:
The knee-jerk approach to preventing terrorism stemming from the Middle East stresses the lack of economic opportunity, political suppression, ethnic divisions, etc. Whether or not that is true in the M.E., it is not true in the US. The terrorists in California (1) enjoyed good income from a good job; (2) lived in a democracy; and (3) were completely free to practice their religion as they pleased, without any political suppression. We have seen the same before, with the Boston Marathon bombings, the terrorist attack at Fort Hood (mislabeled workplace violence), and others. This was NOT an attack by victims who lack a voice or lack hope. This was not the responsibility of the US and its foreign policy, as CAIR's representative just lectured us. This was evil. This was terrorism with an explicit thanks to ISIS (and perhaps inspiration from Al Qaeda and its magazine). This was funded by liked-minded terrorists. In sum, this was an effort to kill people who don't subscribe to their vision of political Islam.
