A look at the inner workings of the Obama White House

Glenn Thrush writes in a Politico cover story that being a member of Barack Obama's Cabinet is the worst job in Washington D.C. He alleges that West Wing staffers and czars have far more influence with President Obama than do the Cabinet Secretaries. Two of the most powerful Cabinet members were Robert Gates and Hillary Clinton, both of whom have books coming out in the next couple of months. The West Wingers are particularly worried about what Gates will say, and the rumor is that Gates will compare Obama unfavorably with Bush, with whom Gates also served.

Obama's most trusted national security advisor is Denis McDonough.

The paradox of Obama's governing style is that

The president who forcefully pushed through the largest expansion of the federal government in generations has been significantly less zealous in overseeing its operation.
